Final Champions League 2019 Liverpool Vs Tottenham

Champions League Final 2019: Liverpool Defeat Tottenham to Claim Sixth European Cup

Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi on Target as Reds Triumph in Madrid

Jurgen Klopp's Side Lift Trophy for the First Time Since 2005

Liverpool have been crowned champions of Europe for the sixth time after claiming a 2-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in Saturday's Champions League final in Madrid. Mohamed Salah opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the second minute of the game, before Divock Origi made the game safe late on with a composed finish.

The Reds were deserved winners on the night, dominating possession and creating the better chances throughout the 90 minutes. Tottenham rarely threatened, with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker having a relatively quiet evening between the sticks.

Jurgen Klopp's side have now lifted the European Cup for the first time since 2005, when they overcame AC Milan in a penalty shootout in Istanbul. This victory is a fitting reward for the club's remarkable season, which has seen them also claim the Premier League title.

Tottenham, meanwhile, will be left to rue a missed opportunity. Mauricio Pochettino's men have enjoyed a memorable campaign, but they were unable to overcome a resilient Liverpool side on the biggest stage of all.
