Bardock's appearance in volume 26 of the manga, donning his signature bandana from the TV special, confirms his canonicity. However, certain aspects of his origin story, as depicted in the Bardock: Father of Goku special, have been invalidated by Dragon Ball Minus, which introduced a revised backstory for the character.
