Early Life and Career
Montel Vontavious Porter, also known as Hassan Hamin Assad, was born on October 28, 1973. His adopted Muslim name, Hassan Hamin Assad, reflects his conversion to Islam in 2002. Porter began his professional wrestling career in 1995 and quickly gained attention for his athleticism and charisma.
WWE Success
Porter joined World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2002 and adopted the Muslim-American character, Hassan. He quickly became a fan favorite, known for his fiery promos and powerful in-ring performances. In 2005, Porter won the United States Championship and held it for over 100 days.
Current Status
After leaving WWE in 2007, Porter wrestled in various independent promotions and made several appearances for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). In 2018, he returned to WWE as a manager under the name MVP. He currently works as a commentator and producer for the company.
