Adam Schiff: A Political Overview
Early Life and Education
Adam Bennett Schiff was born on June 22, 1960, in Framingham, Massachusetts. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Danville's Monte Vista High School. Schiff went on to earn his undergraduate degree from Stanford University and his law degree from Harvard Law School.
Political Career
House of Representatives
Schiff's political journey commenced when he was elected to the California State Senate in 1996. In 2000, he successfully ran for the United States House of Representatives, representing California's 28th congressional district. In 2013, he was redistricted to California's 29th congressional district, which encompasses parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties. Schiff has been re-elected 11 times, serving in the House for over two decades.
Senate Candidacy
In 2023, Schiff announced his candidacy for the vacant United States Senate seat previously held by Dianne Feinstein. The election is set to take place in 2024.
